A Mail from San Francisco

Hi!
You are not going to believe me where do I write this mail, yes it is I am in the coolest city ever SAN FRANCISCO!!! I arrived here yesterday, I go here to join a fixed gear contest. It is an amazing place but I have to go uphill and downhill way, it’s very dangerous to ride fixed gear. The weather is nice, it’s sunny and the sky looks very beautiful. Too bad you couldn’t come with me, there are a lot of cool bike stores here. You’d like it.

The first thing I do when I arrived at San Francisco I took my bag from the airport and then I build my bike, after that I go straight ahead to San Francisco Fixed Gear Festival. At the festival I met a lot of famous people from Macaframa SF and Mash SF, fyi Macaframa and Mash is the most popular fixed gear or fixie community in the world. Then Emi Brown take me to a tour around the city, I visited the Golden Gate Bridge, it is very big and I can see amazing view from there, I also visited the Chinatown, it is the oldest Chinatown in North America it is also the biggest Chinese community outside Asia they have beautiful buildings. After I finish visiting the places I went back to the hotel and get some rest.

The next day I get up early because I want to visit the whole city by riding a bike! I also tried the trem facility, trem is a train that goes around the city so people don’t need to go uphill or downhill. Im going to stay in San Francisco for another 4 days. I’ll write more mail for you!.

Peace Out

An Email from Tokyo

Hey you!

Right now, I'm seeing blue skies and feeling a nice cool breeze pass through my cheek as the sun sets right in front of me. I can see the whole city of Tokyo from here! Guess where I am? Yup, I'm currently on top of Tokyo Tower right now. Since I've been thinking about you all day, it wasn't strange when you popped in my mind while I was seeing this magnificent view- so I decided to write you an email from my blackberry. ;)

Since this is my first time in Tokyo, Matsuyama has been dragging me all around town to show me all the famous tourist attractions and places. We woke up at the crack of dawn to take a look at the Tsukuji Fish Market, an interesting fish market that is open only from 3-6 AM! Anyways, something funny happened there. Since Matsuyama was so sleepy, he slipped and fell face first onto a pile of huge tuna fish! Way to get a wake up call!

Anyways, our self-guided tour is nowhere finished yet. I still have a bit of jetlag. But overall, I've been doing great, apart missing you. Matsuyama is a huge ball of energy-just like you. He reminds me of you too much. Why did your intensive training for the contest have to be in the holidays? :(

Gotta go-Matsuyama is screaming at me because we've got to catch the last Shinkansen to go to Kyoto after this! I'll write you again when I get there, okay. I miss you so much. <3 Bye! Dennis

Dennis Tito Writes E-mail While Doing Space Travel!

Hi Ellie!

Guess where I am writing from-the International Space Station! Yeah, this is crazy, I know! I could have write to you after I landed on Earth, but it is so cool to get an e-mail from outside the Earth, is not it? And you are my best friend! Even though I did not have enough money to take you with me, I know you will be happy getting this e-mail. I assume you will take a picture of this e-mail and make it as your display picture for a whole month. Oh, do not say you will not. Best friends know one another. ;)
Well, it was a little bit hard for me to stay conscious after leaving the Earth’s atmosphere. I got quite panic by the no-air-condition, but I soon recovered! Then I continued the journey by watching the beautiful view. Outside, I could see rocks--meteors, maybe, I am not good at this--that were on different sizes flowing. They formed a trajectory. I could also see gasses with different colors made a whirling shape. I could see stars that somehow became a little bit bigger than the stars I usually see from the Earth, even though they were still extremely far from me. I really enjoyed it. :D
I spent the rest of the journey by walking around the International Space Station. It was an awesome place and I had a great time. I am now end up here, resting in one of the rooms, writing this e-mail to you. I am very happy and grateful about this experience. This is amazing and there is nothing cooler than this journey in my whole life. The only missing thing is that you are not here. :(
I will be writing soon. Next week, probably. I have a lot more to tell about this journey but I should get back to Earth (it is really cool that I am writing “Earth”, not home) because the journey is over. By the way, do not forget our next meeting! I have been waiting for it. It sucks that we can only meet once a month. I miss you already. Take care! :)

Love,
Dennis

Teenagers Thoughts-Final Draft

Teenagers Thoughts

The aim of this essay and report is to understand what are teenagers use and choose about gadgets, public transportations, and games. I interviewed 5 friends in my class, and here are their thoughts:

Gadgets
Teenagers nowadays choose BlackBerry as their gadgets. All people I interviewed are using BlackBerries. They use it because BB is fast, simple, free, and modern. The facilities are also complete. But they sometimes hate it too because the connection is crowded which makes BB do ‘pending’ on BBM (BlackBerry Messengers) and low internet connection. These teenagers also have dream-gadgets (gadgets they are craving right now). Most of them want Ipad and other Apple products, and one of them wants a galaxy-tab or MacBook.

Public Transportation
2 of my friends choose to use TransJakarta Bus. One of them sometimes uses it to go to Kota Tua, and the other uses it to go home. 1 of my friends sometimes goes to school by Metromini Bus. The other one sometimes goes to his course place by taxi. And I have one friend who never uses public transportation at all, she chooses using her own car because it’s more comfortable. But all of my friends prefer their own cars to public transportations, because it’s safer and more comfortable.

Games
All of my friends have played traditional games. They like it. They don’t think it’s a shame to play traditional games. They also think traditional games can help us doing some physical exercise… But, they prefer modern games to traditional games, because they don’t know who to play traditional games with. And however, technologies beat everything. Modern games are better.

The conclusion is that teenagers (in Indonesia) nowadays love to use BlackBerry as their gadgets and want Apple products as their dream-gadget. They've gone to places with public transportation, but they prefer personal transportation such as their own cars. They like to play traditional games, but they love modern games much more.

will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

These days, schools and teachers is very important to teenager. Because without school you cant get any knowledge or information, beside that unconsciously you cant get any friends without it. But not every teenagers in the world go to "formal school'.

There are some of them that doing learning with different ways. They dont go to school but their teacher come to their houses. This type of learning usually called "home schooling".
The reason why they  follow home schooling :
- Difficulties access to Formal  school beceause of geografic area
- Having problem to follow learning process in formal school

The advantage of home  schooling
- The education can be customized individually
- Save energy for travel

Disadventage of home Schooling
- They cant do social interaction that they can do if they go to formal school.

In the future i think there must still be schools and teachers but may be have some differences. Maybe in the future teacher is not a human but a robot and school is more sophisticated than now.

Will there still be schools and teachers in the future?

The future is difficult to predict, the scientists predict that in the future there will be no more schools and teachers. They said that, because computers already made and it can replace the role of human activities. But i don't believe it.

Nowadays computers are very advanced. It can help students and teachers to study, doing homework, many more. There are many programs that help people to learn everything from internet. But unconsciously it can make people getting lazier to work.

So we need teachers to help us learn, because robots cannot replace the role of human activities. For example teachers have to make all of their students understand his/her lesson, teachers have to make homework for their students, and teachers have to communicate with the students. And i think robots cannot do all of it because robot is made by human, so robot cannot equated with human.

And if there will be no more schools, we can imagine that we will get lazy and fat because we don't do school activities.

to conclude, i think there will still teachers and schools in the future. Because computers and robots cannot replace the role of human. And people need to study and socialize with their friends and teachers at school.

Will there still be school and teachers in the future?

According to the scientist research and prediction a few years from now there will be no more teachers and school, because everything is high tech and everyone will learn from the internet. Even though its the scientist prediction, I dont believe it.

The prediction of the scientist might be true because robots and e-learning is created already. Nowadays people also getting lazier so they don't like to go anywhere. Teachers also use internet for homework, so e-learning is everywhere.

The scientist prediction might come true in USA or any other big countries, but in Indonesia i don't think so it will happen because nowadays there are a lot of unemployment people and if there are robots to replace the teachers how many unemployment people in Indonesia?

If these things happen all over the world, people will get fatter and lazier because they will stay in house all day long.
